| Peer Leader The position
of Peer Leader for the DSC Peer Instruction
Program will require energetic, enthusiastic
and motivated Dalton State College students.
Students chosen to participate in the
program will take on many roles in assisting
first year DSC students. Peer Leaders will
work closely with faculty, staff, and other
students to help provide information,
referrals, academic support, and
transitional assistance to first year
students.
Peer Instruction Goals
- Help students learn and develop a
set of adaptive study, coping, critical
thinking, problem solving, social, and
college survival skills.
- Aid students’ integration to the
Dalton State College Community.
- Help Faculty and Staff.
- Ensure that students successfully
complete their first year and continue
their collegiate career.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to
new and continuing students.
Specific responsibilities of Peer
Leaders may include:
- Participate in advance training with
faculty, staff, and other peer
instruction leaders
(Spring and Fall).
- Serve as a resource and referral
person for students.
- Facilitate and document
communications with students.
- Assist assigned faculty in teaching
the Freshman Seminar, if needed. (FYES
1000)
- Facilitate Supplemental Instruction
in content area.
- Help connect students to campus
resources and DSC community.
- Adhere to confidentiality statement.
- Tutoring individually when
necessary.
- Meet weekly with Peer Leader
Coordinator.
- Be available up to 19.5 hours a
week.
