DSC is providing
academic success workshops to help you meet financial aid
satisfactory academic progress standards. While you are not
required to attend these workshops, attendance at this workshops
will be looked at favorably should you need to appeal suspension
of financial aid. To register for any of these workshops,

Learn basic study skills with a focus on text book reading, test
preparation, and note-taking.
Get Smart:
Study Smart.
Take control and improve your grades. Defeat the chaos of poor
time management. Learn effective study skills that will make you
an agent of change.
"Blues Clues:
Depression and the College Student. Depression among college
students is very common. Signs and symptoms of depression are
often overlooked or misunderstood. This workshop will assist attendees
with identifying symptoms of depression and learn effective
coping skills for symptom management. This workshop will also
include a free depression screening for interested individuals.
Making a
"Major" Career Decision.
Participate in career/major exploration. Learn how to assess you
choices and create back-up plans.
Test Taking for Finals. Learn how to take a test and not get taken by
one. This workshop focuses on study skills,
test preparation, and test taking strategies for final exams.
Don't Freak Out: Managing
Stress in College. This workshop will assist the
attendee with recognizing problem stress and learn valuable
coping skills to manage it.
Grief and Loss. grief is
the normal response of sorrow, emotion, and confusion that comes
from losing someone or something important to you. It is a
natural part of life. In this workshop, students will learn
about grief, typical responses to grief, and how to cope with
inevitable losses.
"That one course is the real
issue!" Tutoring in a specific problem are (Tutoring
counts as all three workshops, but you MUST meet with a
tutor at least every other week - 6 visits. You may start
the series of visits the first week of classes.)
