In addition to passing the
essay and reading tests, students may satisfy either or both Regents’ skills
requirements in the following ways.
Reading
minimum score of 510 on
the SAT-I Verbal test
minimum score of 23 on
the ACT Reading test
Essay
minimum score of 3 on
the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) English Language and Composition
exam
minimum score of 4 on
the International Baccalaureate (IB) English exam
minimum score of 650 on
the SAT-II English Writing Test
an “A” in English 1101
and a minimum SAT-I Verbal score of 530 or minimum ACT English score of 23
a “B” in English 1101
and a minimum SAT-I Verbal score of 590 or minimum ACT English score of 26
NOTE: If test scores are over 5 years old, they cannot
be applied toward the exemption policy. Test scores must be from a national
administration of the SAT or ACT. Institutionally administered test scores
cannot be used to exempt a student from the RTP.
