Session I: Recognizing and Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities
This workshop will focus on the reasons to be an
entrepreneur as well as the benefits and costs of becoming an entrepreneur.
We'll explore how entrepreneurs find opportunities to start new businesses by
creatively exploiting change in our works and recognizing opportunities where
others might see problems. We will review the paths to small business ownership
and finally discuss how to create a business from an opportunity. This includes
finding a competitive advantage and exploring the feasibility of a business idea
as well as determining the value of a business. These topics are important first-steps
for new venture creation. Students and community members with an interest in starting
a business are encouraged to attend.
