Welcome to the home page of the Division of Education. The Division of Education is committed to preparing professional educators to be competent and effective teachers, who can bring diverse learners to high academic achievement and who can work toward school improvement.
Our professional education programs are collaboratively developed with public school partners, with whom we have formed close partnerships. The curriculum in Early Childhood and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) integrates quality academic preparation and supervised field experiences in diverse public school settings. Completion of our programs ensure teacher candidates are able to manage complex and diverse environments and to understand fully how beginning teachers can become contributing members in the school environment who work toward school improvement.

Candidates seeking a baccalaureate degree receive a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and an ESOL endorsement. Post-baccalaureate candidates holding at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university complete the same curriculum as baccalaureate candidates. All candidates, who successfully complete the programs, are recommended for an initial certification in Early Childhood and an ESOL endorsement.
Our curriculum is designed to ensure that teacher candidates are advocates of high standards and equitable learning opportunities for all children. Our candidates share a commitment and belief that professional educators can make a difference in the lives of young children.
The information we have provided will give you an overview of the program, the faculty, and the unique opportunities available to our candidates.
