Studying Abroad
Studying abroad is a wonderful experience for many people. However, I
don’t think I would benefit from a semester studying abroad for many
reasons. I believe the studying abroad program is for many people and
they enjoy the program so much. Nevertheless, to me I believe the
studying abroad program isn’t worth all the trouble it creates. I
believe the studying abroad program would not benefit me because of
money, distance, and experience.
First, a study abroad program would not benefit me because of money. The
studying abroad program usually costs more than just a regular class
tuition here at Dalton State College. By paying for this trip it could
put a burden on my budget. Doing this would hurt me in many ways. It
could hurt me because of bills, spending money, and souvenir. Therefore,
I believe a regular classroom experience would benefit me the most
because of money.
Next, a study abroad program would not benefit me because of the
distance. To me the distance would create man problems for me. The
problems would not exist if I were in a regular classroom setting
because I would be much more relaxed. The distance would make me sick
and I would not really focus on my assignments. For example, all I would
think about would be when I was going to get to go home. I would be
focusing all my time on when the program would be over. By doing this
nothing would have my complete attention. In a classroom setting I would
feel more relaxed and comfortable, so I could then focus more on my
studies and not the time. Therefore, I believe a regular classroom
experience would benefit me the most because of the distance.
Finally, a studying abroad program would not benefit me because of the
experience. I believe this would keep me from learning the material
which I may need. For example, I go on a studying abroad trip to Mexico.
I know just a little Spanish, so when arriving there I would be afraid I
would say something wrong. However, in a regular classroom I would be
more active in the discussion because I would be in there with fellow
classmates who would not make fun of me. They could be encouraging,
helpful, and I would see they are like me. They would be struggling with
it too. Therefore, a regular classroom experience would benefit me the
most because of the experience.
In conclusion, a regular classroom would benefit me more than a studying
abroad program. The study abroad program works well with most people,
but I don’t believe it would be all that pleasant. Therefore, I believe
the studying abroad program would not benefit me because of money,
distance, and experience. |
