Calvin Meyer was appointed Dean of the School of Education at Dalton State College, August 1, 2011.
Dr. Meyer brings to Dalton State College four decades of experience in education, with 24 years in higher education. Dr. Meyer has served as a classroom teacher, high school principal, Educational Specialist with the South Carolina Department of Education, college professor and administrator. In 1982 he was named "Outstanding School Administrator for the State of South Carolina." Prior to coming to Dalton State College, Dr. Meyer served with Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky, as Chair of Middle Grades/Secondary Education and at Marshall University, South Charleston, West Virginia for 10 years where as Program Director of the Elementary/Secondary Education Graduate Program. At Marshall, he was instrumental in designing the major for the Ed.D. Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and changed the delivery of the master's degree program, in 11 different emphases, from an onsite to an online platform. Dr. Meyer has also been a professor at Hannibal-Lagrange College, Hannibal, Missouri; Georgia College, Milledgeville, Georgia; Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia; and Missouri Baptist College, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Meyer is nationally published and holds several national level leadership positions.
