Biography
A native of coastal Georgia, Ellie Jenkins (horn) joined the faculty at Dalton State College in 2010 as the first full-time music faculty in the history of the college. She is an active performer, playing principal horn in the Carroll Symphony, second horn with the Rome Symphony, and performing frequently with the Chamber Players of the South. She has also appeared with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, and toured Taiwan with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra in 2004. She has served on the faculties of several schools including the University of West Georgia, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Dr. Jenkins received her doctorate from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and other degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Miami. Her primary teachers are Douglas Hill, Barry Benjamin, Robert Elworthy, and Maribeth Crawford. She has appeared as a recitalist in Italy, Brazil, and at several Southeast Horn Workshops. Dr. Jenkins resides in Dalton, with her husband and four dogs.
