Goal Statement
The Division
of Social Sciences assists students in developing any ability to acquire data,
understand relationships, process information, draw conclusions, and critically
evaluate issues related to the society and culture of the United States, both
internally and externally. Students will be able to: 1. demonstrate an understanding of course content acquired through listening, reading, research, and use of electronic media. 2. utilize frameworks, models and concepts appropriate to social science disciplines in order to analyze human behavior and social institutions. 3. comprehend major forces, events, influences and ideas that have shaped history and society. 4. analyze and understand different perspectives on issues and recognize viewpoints other than their own.
