I am a Dalton Native, and Dalton State College has played an important role in my life. When I was attending David Lipscomb College, I was able to do transient course work at Dalton Junior College. I later returned to Dalton Junior to take Business (Medical Office) classes. I earned my Associate Degree in Nursing at Dalton College in 1995 and have worked as a nurse since.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of West Georgia. I was also able to complete my core classes through Dalton State (they offered the classes at the hospital at the time). I returned to UWGA to complete my Master of Science in Nursing. I also earned my Clinical Nurse Leader Certification.
After 23 years of hospital experience, the decision to be an educator was made. I enjoyed working with the students as they came through the hospital, so I thought helping mentor them into nurses would be beneficial to the students, the college, and me.
I have four lovely children. Two have also started their college career at Dalton State. Heather graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and was encouraged to pursue a higher educational degree by the wonderful staff. Tabitha started in Biology and moved to Physical Therapy Assistant. Sabrina and Jon are still deciding where their paths will lead.
Dalton State College started the life-long learning process for my children and me. My passion is education/teaching and watching the faces light up as a student understands a new concept or idea.
