I'm originally from Erie, PA and have been involved in the fire protection, emergency services and occupational safety fields since 1972. This includes 12 years in U.S. Air Force fire protection career field where I worked my way up from firefighter to Chief Fire Officer.
I have held numerous positions in the fire and safety field and have a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of fire protection, emergency preparedness, industrial safety and hazardous materials response. My last position prior to coming to Dalton State was that of Executive Director of Safety for Revel Entertainment at their new multi-billion dollar resort hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. Prior to that I held positions as a Fire Protection Engineer with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions at the DoE Savannah River Site; as a Fire Protection Engineer with DeKalb County Fire-Rescue in metro Atlanta and the Assistant Safety Manager at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL.
I have been a state fire instructor for the PA State Fire Academy since 1979, and am now an Instructor Emeritus and have also been a Radiological Level 3 instructor for PA Emergency Management Agency 1996. I hold numerous national and international certifications in the fire and safety fields including Safety Specialist, Safety Instructor and Hazardous Materials Supervisor with the World Safety Organization and also certifications with the ProBoard Fire Service Professional Qualifications System as a Firefighter 2; Fire Instructor 2; Fire Inspector 1; Airport Firefighter; Driver/Operator-Pumper & ARFF; Fire Officer 3 and Hazardous Materials Technician.
