Greta Sterl Born on the 30th of October 1985,I am the second child of the family. My parents both turned 50 this year. My father was born in Oradea, having German and Hungarian roots. He graduated the Technical University in Cluj-Napoca and now works at a construction company. My mother was born in Baia Mare having Romanian, Hungarian and German roots and is now working at a home for old aged people. My 25-year-old sister is studying at the Medical University, she wishes to be a doctor. Although I lived my whole life in Cluj-Napoca, which is a great town, from cultural, architectural and social point of view, I always will be fascinated by the beautiful small town I was born in, Campulung-Moldovenesc in the county of Suceava, surrownded by the Oriental Carpathian mountines. You have a beautiful view from down there. You can see the Rarau massif with the rock formation called Pietrele Doamnei. I haven't spent more than a couple of weeks there each time. Being used to the lifestyle of a big town, still I'm curious if I could manage to live in a small town, where everybody knows each other. It would be both a challenge and a chance to live a quiet, peaceful life. I went 12 years long to the same school, had German as mother language, graduated there and got a linguistic competence diploma from Germany. Against everybody's will, I came to study sociology and social work, abandoning German. I really miss studying in German. I also speak a little bit Hungarian. I learned some Spanish from TV. I am attending optional courses for Norwegian and Japanese. I have the curiosity to learn as many languages as possible. I consider myself as being a restless but very caring person with strong character and beliefs, thinking things always happen the way it is meant to be. I am a protestant and believe in God. It gives me inner peace. An incident that marked me in the past month was the loss of both my grandparents. They both passed away during 3 days. It was something no one has expected and it strengthened my belief, because I am sure their bound has been so strong they left this world together. I loved them very much, I was extremely close to my grandmother. I am still not used to the idea they are gone and I still dream at night my grandmother has come back. Persons with different problems or rebel behavior attract me the most and I usually like everything that is strange, because it is not common. That is why I would like to be a social worker and also to show people in need I care and am willing to help. I am the kind of person that likes to think a lot about all kinds of issues and listens whenever someone has a problem. I like reading novels having as their main theme life, watching dramas and listening to music. t is easy for me being able to study in the town I live in, because I have all my friends close, which is important. Most of them I have known for years. Friendship, true friendship is essential in life and is based on trust and devotion. My sister and me both have received a great education and own strong characters, but in order to make a comparison between the two of us I have to admit my sister is the serious, hard learning and working one, while I am the rebel one with lots of affection to give and always winding through thoughts about life. Either way I am happy with myself this way and hope to get the chance to achieve in life what I have pictured in my head:
fulfilment through dedicating myself to helping others.
