Ph.D., M.A. University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA.

Dr. Hassan Ali El-Najjar was born in Gaza, Palestine, in 1950. In 1967, he left to Jordan, Egypt, Libya, and the  UAE before immigrating to the USA in 1986.

He has been teaching sociology and anthropology courses at DSC since 1991.

He is now teaching the Introduction to Sociology (SOCI-1101) course in three different ways: Regular, Hybrid, and Online. He also teaches the Introduction to Anthropology (ANTH-1103) course as an online course. Click at anyone of them on the right column to see a detailed syllabus.

Basic differences between the three courses:

1. The regular course meets regularly in a classroom.

2. The Hybrid course gives students an attendance option for pre-exam sessions. Basic exams are taken in class.

3. The Online course is completely taught and evaluated through online activities, except for the basic exams, which are taken in class.

The main objective of this diversity in delivering courses is to enable various categories of students to get higher education, whether in the traditional face-to-face classroom setting, or online, without the need to bring them to college campuses.

In particular, this diversity in delivering higher education aims at serving students who are living far away in a state or even in other states, as well as students who do not have time or are incapable to attend regular classes.

Basic Information About Dr. El-Najjar's Online Courses:

In my online sociology & anthropology courses, there are two types of tests:

1. Online tests on every chapter to be taken through Georgia View online, each one of them has about seven days to be taken. These online tests account for 16% of the grade.

2. There are five in-class exams, covering units, about three chapters each. These exams are taken in class every about three weeks. They account for 84% of the grade. This means that the class meets only five times for taking these exams.

There are a lot of materials available in Georgia View to help students do well in online tests and in in-class exams. These include study guides for every chapter, summaries, lecture notes, handouts, and my audio-taped lectures on power-point presentations.
