Biography:
I was born in Newland, North Carolina. I received a B.A. and an M.A. in History from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. I received my Ph.D. in American History from the University of Kentucky in 1993 and began teaching at Dalton State College in the fall of that year. My areas of specialization include American social history, the history of medicine, women's history and the history of the Appalachian Region. I am married to Dr. Gregory K. Stanley.
