I was born near Nashville, TN, and raised
in and around Music City, USA. After graduating from Hillwood
High School, I attended Middle Tennessee State University in
Murfreesboro. At the time, I never expected to stay in school
as long as I did; however, eventually I earned three degrees!
I have always enjoyed lecturing and teaching; in my undergraduate
days I was interested in making movies, but I also thought about
careers in writing and education. Eventually, of course,
education won out. That being said, I continue to write and
have an interest in the cinema. I was a film critic for a
paper in Nashville, ALL THE RAGE, and my articles have also appeared
in such publications as MOVIE CLUB, AMERICAN SPIRIT, and THE PULSE
in Chattanooga. I am co-author of THE AMAZING, COLOSSAL BOOK
OF HORROR TRIVIA: EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SCARY
MOVIES BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK (1999) and am currently working on
transforming my doctoral dissertation into a book about the horror
films of Vincent Price. Recently I agreed to write a book
about Nashville history. I love literature and writing as well
as film; my other interests include history, comic books, cult TV
shows (such as FAMILY GUY), music (I'm a rabid fan of the Rolling
Stones), travel, and dining out. Thanks for taking the time to
check out my faculty webpage! |
