Chapter 6 - Examples

1. The variable x has mean 75, and standard deviation 10. What is the z-score of the following:
a. 71
b. 95
c. 100

2. What is the area between z-scores -0.79 and 1.23?

3. a. What is z0.125?
   b. What is z1.00?

4. What is the z-score for
   a. area 0.5600 on its left?
   b. area 0.0282 on its right?

5. Find the two z-scores that divide the area under the curve into a middle 0.90 area and two outside 0.050 areas.

6. IQ’s are normally distributed with mean 100 and standard deviation 16. Obtain the probability that a randomly selected person has IQ between 80 and 120.
