Biography:
Dr. Lynn Murphy is a native of Knoxville, TN. He has lived in the Dalton/North Georgia area since 1973. Prior to coming to DSC, he has
served as a classroom teacher, teacher evaluator, assistant principal,
principal, director of fine arts, director of student services,
director of human resources, and interim assistant superintendent. He
previously served at the college level, teaching part time for
Reinhardt College, Brenau University, University of West Georgia, and
Dalton State College.

Dr. Murphy's wife, Betty, is a retired elementary gifted teacher. The
Murphys have two children. Andrea Murphy Adams is married to Jon Adams (band director at Bagley Middle School) and is the choral music teacher at Southeast Whitfield High School. They have four children: Sheree, Abby, Aaron and Andrew. Julie Murphy Scoggins is married to Chris Scoggins (deputy for Whitfield County Sheriff's Office) and is a high
school English teacher at the Whitfield County Career Academy. They
have two children, Nathan and Braden.

The Murphys are actively involved in their church, Evangelical
Methodist Church, where Dr. Murphy serves as organist. Dr. Murphy also
serves on the board of directors for the O.N. Jonas Foundation.
