In 1974, Marsha graduated with a Bachelor’s in Arts & Sciences, English
with High Honors, at the University of Florida, Gainesville. At this
time, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. From 1987-91, Marsha taught
in a tenure-track capacity at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA.
While attending Asbury Theological Seminary for four years, Marsha
taught half-time at Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. After graduating with
a Master of Divinity in 1995, Marsha served one year as an Associate
Pastor in a United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, and then for four
years as the Director of a Wesley Foundation, serving as a campus
minister for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise and for
Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, VA. While living in
Wise County, VA, Marsha also taught English as an adjunct at both
colleges. For one year, Marsha served as Ordained Pastor of two
churches in Coeburn, VA. In 2001, Marsha accepted a teaching position at
Dalton State College where she serves as Associate Professor of English.
Marsha is a nationally recognized poet and a novelist. She is a mother
of two daughters and a grandmother. Her travels include Mexico, Cayman
Islands, Honduras, Belize, Israel, Italy, France, England, and Scotland.
