The primary purpose of the Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services is to provide financial assistance to eligible students attending Dalton State College. The family and student are expected to make a maximum effort to assist with educational expenses. Any financial assistance received from Dalton State College and/or other sources is viewed as supplementary to the efforts of the family unit. To determine a student's ability to pay for the cost of education, DSC utilizes the standard need analysis system provided by the Department of Education. The expected family contribution is compared to a budget representing the total cost of attending DSC for an academic year (usually two semesters in duration). ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dalton State Office of Student Financial Aid & Veteran Services method of communication with students: Your DSConnect email account will be the primary way the Financial Aid Office communicates with students. It is important that you check your DSConnect email account frequently. The 2007-2008 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available on-line. Be sure to review the application checklist. Apply as soon as possible after January 1, 2007. You may access the FAFSA web-site by clicking on the link below: Change in HOPE Policies Due to new policies regarding HOPE, DSC now requires an authorization form in order to use HOPE book money to pay for additional fees (Example: Nursing test fees, insurance fees, Teacher Education Internship fees, classes not covered by HOPE because they are not in your program of study, etc). Please go to your Student Menu in the Banner channel of DSConnect account and fill out the 'Student Financial Aid Funds Authorization' electronically (available under 'Financial Aid Menu') or go by the DSC Business Office located in the Westcott Building.
