Position DEAN, SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Position Qualifications
/Responsibilities
Dalton State College invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Education. As the School’s administrative and academic head, the Dean will be responsible for coordinating all of its academic programs, research, and service activities and will be expected to teach one course each semester.  More information about the College and the School of Education may be found at http://www.daltonstate.edu .   

Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of education, with an established record of effective leadership in academia and extensive full-time teaching, research, and administrative experience, qualifying for appointment at the rank of full professor.   In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics:  
  • relevant administrative experience in higher education and substantial knowledge of P-12 education
  • experience in working with diverse populations ability to establish and support partnerships with P-12 schools
  • a collaborative approach to relations with faculty, staff, and community organizations
  • ability to articulate and support a vision for educational innovation
  • dedication to supporting and promoting faculty scholarship
  • successful experience with accreditation processes, especially those of NCATE
  • strong commitment to faculty and staff recruitment/retention excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work within a shared governance system characterized by consultation and collaboration
  • effective problem-solving approaches to the challenges facing institutions of higher education
  • performance in building consensus to achieve institutional goals
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
