Position Part-time instructors (Gilmer County Campus)
Position Qualifications
/Responsibilities
Dalton State College is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach humanities, social science, physical education, and natural science classes at its new Gilmer County Center in Ellijay, GA.  

Positions are available in English, Psychology, Speech, History, Geography, Physical Education, Political Science, Sociology, Music, Mathematics, Geology, and Biology.  

In addition, one full-time temporary position is available in English.  

All positions require a master’s degree with at least 18 semester hours of graduate-level coursework in the subject field.

Dalton State College, a unit of the University System of Georgia accredited to award Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees, including the Bachelor of Science in Biology and the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, invites applications for the following full-time, tenure- track positions beginning August, 2009.  All positions require a Doctorate in the field and a commitment to undergraduate education at all levels. All positions are contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities for each position include teaching 27-29 credit hours per academic year which may include evening and/or off-campus courses, advising, and service.

/Responsibilities
Dalton State College, a unit of the University System of Georgia accredited to award associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, invites applications for the following full-time, tenure-track positions beginning August 2009.  These positions require a commitment to undergraduate education at all levels, and preference may be given to applicants with successful college teaching experience. All positions are contingent upon funding.  

Responsibilities for each position include teaching a 5/4 load, advising, service, and professional development.  Teaching assignments may include day, evening, or weekends, and/or off-campus locations.


Assistant Professor of Speech (2 positions)
Required: Master’s in the discipline
Preferred: Credentials to teach in a second Humanities discipline, preferably theatre or English.  

Assistant Professor of English (2 positions)
Required: Doctoral degree in English
Preferred: Credentials to teach in a second Humanities discipline and an interest in teaching freshman composition and learning support English.  

Assistant Professor of History (2 positions)
Required: Doctoral degree in history
Preferred: Specialization in 20th-century American history for one position  
Assistant Professor of Political Science (1 position)
Required: Doctoral degree in political science
Preferred: Credentials to teach in a second discipline, preferably criminal justice.

Position B. J. AND DICKSIE BANDY CHAIR IN HISTORY
Position Qualifications
/Responsibilities
The Department of Social Sciences at Dalton State invites applications for the Bandy Chair in History, a newly endowed position whose responsibilities will include establishing the Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia.  Candidates should have a Ph.D. in history or related discipline and should have a record of scholarship sufficient for initial appointment at the rank of professor.  Ideally, the successful candidate's area(s) of specialization will touch in some way on the history and/or cultural development of the Northwest Georgia Region.  The holder of the Bandy Chair will teach a number of courses in addition to managing the activities of the Bandy Heritage Center.

Dalton State College is seeking a part-time CAD/Drafting instructor to teach various CAD programs, drafting and design concepts, procedures, and analysis for beginning to advanced students in evening classes. 

Good communication, organization and planning skills required.
