Alert Service
Both EBSCOhost and ProQuest allow users to receive e-mail alerts for anything published and made available in a certain journal or from the results of a saved search strategy.
EBSCOhost – You will need to be in your My EBSCOhost account to be able to set-up alerts.
Search Academic Search Premier (or any EBSCOhost database)
To set-up a “search strategy alert”, first create an account for yourself by clicking on Sign-in of My EBSCOhost. Conduct an ADVANCED search. Once you have a search that you want to save, click on Search History/Alerts and follow the directions. Once this is set-up, you will receive e-mail alerts of newly added articles that match your search criteria.
To set-up a “publication alert”, first create an account for yourself by clicking on Sign-in of My EBSCOhost. Conduct an ADVANCED search. Use the search limiters to find a certain publication. Select the frequency desired for notification. Once this is set-up, you will receive e-mail alerts as newly added issues of selected publications are added to the database.
Search ProQuest Research Library (or any other ProQuest database)
ProQuest also supports e-mail alerts of saved search strategies.
To set-up a “search strategy alert”, conduct a search. No option for setting up an alert will appear until AFTER an initial search has been done. Refine your search until you are satisfied with the result. Click on “set-up alert”. It will prompt you for information to complete your e-mail alert.
