What are the library’s hours?

Does the library have copiers/printers/fax machine/Internet access?

The library has copiers and photocopies are .10 a page for black and white copies and .25 a page for color copies. We ask that our patrons read the United States Copyright Law statement posted near the copiers before making copies. Individual users are liable for any infringement. Library staff will be glad to assist you use our printers and copiers.
There are 20 computer workstations with Internet access available for public use and 48 workstations available in the Learning Commons for currently enrolled students, as well as staff and faculty of Dalton State College.  The Roberts Library has a wireless network for those who wish to use their laptops in the library. 
The library supports patron printing.  Black and white prints are .10 a page and color prints are .25 a page. There is no charge for student print jobs.
The library does not have a fax machine for public use.

Where is the Learning Commons located in the library?

The Learning Commons is located on the first floor, northwest side of the library in what was the Library Conference Center.

How do I access my account or renew books online?

To view your account information, go to the DSC library web page, and select the GIL catalog (https://gil.daltonstate.edu/).

Then in the box, that states, “ACCESS MY GIL ACCOUNT to”, select Renew
books online.

2. Enter your institution id (number found on your student id card)
3. Type in your last name and click on the Login to My Account button.

Do you charge fines for overdue items?

Fines accumulate on all circulating materials if they are not returned by or before their due dates.  Fines accumulate up to the day prior to the date items are recovered from the Library book drop.  Fines remain on patron records until the full amount has been paid.  The following fine rates accumulate per item, daily, every day.

Circulating books: $.25 per day per book.  The maximum fine per book is $5.00.

Reserves: $.50 per day per item.  The maximum fine per reserve item is $5.00. 

End of Term Due Dates
Students: All materials are due by their due dates.  Blocks will be placed if materials are not returned by the last day of exams. 

Faculty/Staff:  Materials must be returned by their due dates and no later than the end of the semester.  If materials need renewing, please contact the Circulation Coordinator, Laurie Raper at (706) 272-4529. 

Fines may be waived by a Roberts Library staff member for extenuating circumstances, such as the death of an immediate family member, unusual hardship, or error by the Library staff.

How can I see what books are available in your library? 

Go to the DSC library web page and select the GIL catalog. 
From your home or laptop computer, go to https://gil.daltonstate.edu/

What’s the difference between the GALILEO database and the Internet?

There are over 200 full-text articles from over 27,000 magazines, newspapers, journals and e-books available in the GALILEO database.  You have the option to select articles that are from scholarly or peer-reviewed journals.  They have been reviewed by experts in the subject area and the content is trustworthy.

 Information available on the Internet can be posted by anyone.  They may not be knowledgeable about a particular topic or may have a bias in their viewpoint. The web site may not contain accurate information or data or have been updated recently.  If you do go to a web site, look for an address that has a .edu, .org., or .gov extension.  

 How do I cite sources in MLA or APA format?

Go to the HELP USING THE LIBRARY link on the DSC web page to view our Library Research Guides.  There you will find an MLA or APA color-citation guide.

How would I find sources for an assignment?
