Arthur M. and Elizabeth K. Gignilliat Memorial Hall
|
Memorial Hall was the first building to be erected after the original campus (then Dalton Junior College) was constructed. Dr. Arthur M. Gignilliat served as President of the
College during that time and was instrumental in developing the plans and building the structure.
His wife, Elizabeth Kennedy Gignilliat, died in 1978. She was the mother of Arthur M. Gignilliat, Jr.,
who has served as a member of the Board of Regents. The faculty and staff in 1987 requested
that the name of the building honor the memory of Mrs. Gignilliat and the spouses of the original
faculty and staff. After the death of Dr. Gignilliat, the faculty and staff voted in 1994 to add his name
to the name of the building.
Memorial Hall houses
