Around 200 students graduated from Dalton State during the College’s first fall commencement exercises, with around 80 students participating in the Thursday, December 16th, evening ceremony.
The event marked the first time that Dalton State has held a fall graduation ceremony, which is designed to accommodate those students who graduate in the summer or fall semesters and who wish to receive their diplomas prior to the larger spring event held each year in early May.
The Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center was the site for the 7:00 p.m. event, which featured an address by Faculty Enrichment Award recipient Dr. Tony Simones, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Political Science.
Dr. John Hutcheson, outgoing Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of History, led the procession as the senior most faculty member. Dr. Cordia Starling, Dean of the School of Nursing, sang the “National Anthem,” and Dr. Angela Harris, Dean of Admission, led the students, faculty, and invited guests in singing the College’s alma mater, “Onward Mighty Blue and Silver.”
