Nearly a century ago local citizens launched a campaign to build a college in Dalton. That unprecedented effort culminated in the founding of then-Dalton Junior College in 1963 and the opening of the campus four years later in 1967.
This special era of Dalton’s history will be the subject of an upcoming Dalton State Alumni Lunch & Learn program when Dalton State’s President Emeritus Dr. Jim Burran presents “The Heroic Age of Dalton Junior College: The 1960’s.” The program will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 12 noon on the Dalton State campus in the James E. Brown Center, room 105.
Reservations and advance payment are requested by Tuesday, March 15, and may be made by calling 706-272-2473. Cost is $5 for Dalton State alumni; $10 for the general public. Seating is limited.
Dalton State’s Alumni Relations office offers the Lunch and Learn series as an opportunity for Dalton State faculty members to share their expertise with alumni and the general public. Those wishing to know more are invited to contact Josh Wilson at 706-272-2473 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
