Students Honored for Academic Achievement at Dalton State
The best and brightest of Dalton State College were honored recently at the College’s 36th Annual Honors Convocation. A total of 58 awards were presented to students for academic achievement during the year.
Sen. Charlie Bethel presented the Georgia General Assembly Academic Recognition Award to Clint Little, biology major. The Georgia legislature recognizes one student from each of the University System of Georgia’s 35 colleges and universities for overall academic achievement.
Dr. Donna Mayo, Dean of the School of Business, presented the following awards: Outstanding Senior in Accounting, awarded to both Tawni Harris and Sandra Esparza; Georgia Society of CPAs Award for Academic Excellence in Accounting, to Christopher Whaley; Outstanding Senior in Management, to Steven Tate; Outstanding Senior in Management Information Systems, to Christina Malinga; Outstanding Senior in Marketing, to Kacey Rodgers; Outstanding Senior in Operations Management, to Michael Cheek; Outstanding Senior in Technology Management, to Randall Stamps; and Outstanding Senior in the School of Business, to Monica Elrod.
Dr. Barbara Murray, Interim Dean of the School of Education, presented awards in: Academic Excellence, English Speakers of Other Languages Educaton, to Ashley Baker; Academic Excellence in Mathematics Education, to Michelle Ackley; Academic Excellence in Reading/Language Arts Education, to Olivia M. McKeehan; Academic Excellence in Science Education, to Michelle Ackley; Academic Excellence in Social Studies Education, to Maria Ortiz; Technology Integration Award, to Amanda Williams; Leadership Award, to Felicia Banks; Academic Excellence in Education, to Olivia M. Dr. Cordia Starling, Dean of the School of Nursing, presented the G.L. Westcott Award for Nursing to Kimberly Kaye Moore; and the Highest Academic Average in Nursing to Meghan Autry Forrester.
Dr. Randall Griffus, Dean of the School of Sciences and Mathematics, presented the following awards: Bill Jump Award for Biology, to Clint Little; Arvine Phelps Award for Calculus, to Vidhi Patel; Bob Cooper Award for Chemistry, to Wayne O’Brien; Academic Excellence in Human Anatomy and Physiology, to Ilanit Good; Arvine Phelps Award for Mathematics, Samuel Fowler; and the David Wycherley Award for Physics, to Michael Liles.
