Bethel, Howalt, Bell to Lead Dalton State Foundation Board
Jim Bethel, retired CEO of J&J Industries, has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Dalton State Foundation for a two-year term. Joining him as newly elected officers are Chip Howalt, President of Textile Rubber and Chemical Company, and Vance Bell, Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Industries.
Sara C. “Skeeter” Pierce, Vice President of Morgan Keegan, completed her two-year term as Chair at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting held recently on the campus of Dalton State. Under her leadership, the Foundation drafted its first-ever comprehensive strategic plan, converted Wood Valley Apartments to student housing, and acquired additional property for the College’s future growth.
Bethel has served most recently on the Foundation’s Executive Committee; he previously served as Foundation Chair from 1984 to 1985.
Howalt, who will serve as Vice Chairman, has chaired the Foundation’s Real Estate Committee and served on the Executive Committee.
Bell, a Foundation board member since 2006, was elected Vice Chair-Designate, placing him in line to chair the Foundation in 2015. He has served on the Executive Committee.
