Dr. Jonathan LampleyDalton State’s Lampley to Speak on Movie History
Dr. Jonathan Lampley, Assistant Professor of English at Dalton State College, will speak on “A Short History of the Movies” in a Lunch & Learn program scheduled Tuesday, September 13, at the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce.
The noon lunch program is hosted by the Dalton State Alumni Relations office.
Dr. Lampley’s program will highlight various moments of film history, with an emphasis on American films. “I hope my audience will be amused and educated at the same time,” says Dr. Lampley, “especially when I draw parallels between the movie-watching experience in days gone by with the experience today. Even after more than a hundred years, film remains the medium most able to entertain, enlighten, and ennoble us as a society, and I hope to convey a sense of that in my presentation.”
Advance registration is required; cost is $8 for Dalton State alumni and $10 for the general public. To register, call 706-272-2473. The Gordon County Chamber is located at 300 South Wall Street in Calhoun.
