Second Annual “SEC Game Day for Cystic Fibrosis” to be Held at Dalton State
SEC football returns to Dalton State College on Saturday, October 15, when the College’s Respiratory Therapy Club holds its second annual “SEC Football Game Day for CF” to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia.
The day’s events, which are free and open to the public, will begin at 12 noon with broadcasts of afternoon football games on two screens in the Pope Student Center. The main event, projection of an SEC game onto a 9 x 12 foot outdoor screen on the Burran Bell Tower quad, will begin at 8 pm. The evening game is subject to televised availability, with the game to be screened announced at a later date.
“We have a number of local businesses who are providing food for purchase and giveaways for the event,” said Loryn Hendershot, Vice President for the Respiratory Therapy Club. “We hope that everyone will turn out to support the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and to enjoy SEC football.”
Between noon and 7 pm, outdoor games and an inflatable will be available for children for a $1 donation. Tailgate food—burgers, hot dogs, and barbecue will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be a silent auction of merchandise donated by local businesses, and winners will be announced during half-time of main event. All proceeds from donations, sales of food, and the silent auction will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia.
Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating, but since food will be available for purchase, no outside food or drinks will be permitted. In addition, Dalton State is a smoke-free campus and subject to University System of Georgia policies. Alcohol is also prohibited.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate or picked up in advance from the College’s Respiratory Therapy Department in Room 14 on the lower level of the Technical Education Building, Monday through Thursday, between 9 am and 3 pm.
