DJC Roadrunners to Be Lunch & Learn Topic at Dalton State

Melvyn Ottinger, Head Coach of the Dalton Junior College Roadrunners during the team’s glory days, will present “Beep! Beep! The DJC Roadrunners, 1968-1978” at Dalton State, Friday, March 16, at 12 noon. The Lunch & Learn program is hosted by the Dalton State Foundation and will be held in the College’s James E. Brown Center.
In the team’s 10-year existence, the Roadrunners compiled a 231-78 record, held national top-10 rankings eight out of 10 years, won two division, two state, and two regional championships, and twice reached the national tournament. During his Lunch & Learn, Coach Ottinger will talk about how the Roadrunner basketball program got its start in 1968 and his team’s magical run to the national tournament in 1972.
