Dalton State Homecoming Court Nominees Named

Students representing 15 different Registered Student Organizations at Dalton State College will vie for the titles of King, Queen, Prince, and Princess at Dalton State’s first Homecoming of the modern era. The Court will be crowned during halftime activities Saturday at the Roadrunner basketball game against Allen University at the NorthWest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

President Dr. John O. Schwenn and his wife, Judy, will crown winners assisted by Nancy Whaley, 1974 Homecoming Queen of Dalton Junior College.

Voting takes place among the Dalton State student body this week.

Among the nominees for Homecoming Princess are Shawna Ellis, a senior from Murray County; she is president of Girls’ Greek Life. Sophomore Maria Sandoval of Whitfield County is digital publicity coordinator for the Campus Activities Board. Kristan Skiffen, a sophomore from Whitfield County, represents the Competitive Cheer team. Emma Lopez, a sophomore from Murray County, is a member of Students Advocating for Volunteer Efforts.

Also, Tiffany Roberts, Denis Mustedanagic, Malaka Awad, Tanya Huang, Leslie Barry, Laurely Caycho, and Kayla Almazan.

Junior Laurely Caycho is from Gordon County is a SOAR leader assisting with new student orientation. Alyne Bianchi, a junior transfer student from Brazil, is a member of the Roadrunner volleyball team. Tanya Huang, a junior from Whitfield County, is president of the Pre-Health Professionals Club. Katherine Fromm of Gordon County serves Dalton State as a senator on the Student Advisory Council. Leslie Barry, a junior, is from Whitfield County and is treasurer of the Philosophy Club.

Homecoming Court Nominees Also, Hunter Ballew, Casey Eich, Justin Cook, Kandi Adams, Shawna Ellis, Katherine Fromm, and Anthony Valdez.

Candidates for Homecoming Prince include Junior Kisan Patel of Dalton who is recreational coordinator for the Campus Activities Board. Jordan Sattler, a sophomore from Dalton, is a competition cheerleader. Aurelio Jacobo, of Murray County, serves as a SAVE leader, and Miles David Thomas, a junior from Catoosa County, is a member of the Pre-Health Professionals. Anthony Valdez, a sophomore from Gordon County, is president of the Latin American Student Organization.

Candidates for Homecoming Queen include Kayla Almazan, a senior from Whitfield County; Kayla is public relations chair for the LASO. Kandace Voyles, a senior from Whitfield County, is a member of the spirit cheerleading team. Tiffany Roberts, a senior from Whitfield County, is a member of Dalton State’s criminal justice society, Lambda Alpha Epsilon. Senior Kandi Adams, of Chattooga County, is president of the Respiratory Therapy Club. Malaka Awad, a senior from Dalton, is president of Dalton State’s International Club, public relations officer for Pre-Health Professionals, and secretary of the International Education Committee. Casey Eich, a senior from Catoosa County, serves on the executive committee of the History Club and is an intern with The Bandy Heritage Center.

Homecoming Court Nominees Also, Kristan Skiffen, Jordan Sattler, and Kandace Voyles. Candidates not pictured are Emma Lopez, Aurelio Jacobo, Alyne Bianchi, and Miles David Thomas.

Nominees for Homecoming King include Russell Smith of Chattooga County, a senior representing the Office of Housing and Residential Life. Russell also serves Dalton State as president of the student body and as a member of the College’s first fraternity, Alpha Kappa Lambda. Brandon Crisp, senior from Whitfield County, represents the criminal justice society, LAE. Justin Cook, a senior from Union County, represents the Respiratory Therapy Club as a candidate for King. Denis Mustedanagic, a senior, is treasurer of the International Club and also a member of the Environmental and Chemistry clubs and Beta Chi Nu biology honorary society. Hunter Ballew is a senior from Murray County and represents the History Club on the Homecoming Court.
