Impact of Television to Be Lunch and Learn Topic
February 25, 2014
Dr. Kris Barton, Associate Professor of Communication and recipient of the Dalton State Foundation’s 2013 Award for Faculty Excellence in Scholarship, will deliver a Dalton State Lunch & Learn program titled “Understanding the Impact of Media: How Television is Changing Your Life” on Tuesday, March 18.
“Media are all around us,” says Dr. Barton. “Recent data suggest that the average American consumes 4.5 hours of television per day, but most never question the impact it has on them mentally, physically, and psychologically.” Dr. Barton will discuss how media – specifically, television – impacts us and has shaped the way we view news, politics, education, and religion.
The program will begin at 12 noon in Room 105 of The James E. Brown Center. Reservations and advance payment are required by March 14, and may be made online at www.alumni.daltonstate.edu/events. Cost is $10 and includes lunch. Those with questions are invited to contact the Dalton State Foundation by calling 706-272-4473.
