Dalton State College will welcome the awarding-winning
Manhattan Piano Trio for a concert on campus on
Thursday, January 25, in the auditorium of Memorial
Hall.
Sponsored by the College’s Fine
Arts and Lecture Series, the event begins at 7:30 pm and
is free and open to the public.
“The Manhattan Piano Trio is
considered to be one of the most prominent, versatile,
and exciting chamber groups in the country,” said Jane
Taylor, Public Relations Director of Dalton State. “The
trio won the Grand Prize during the 2006 Plowman
National Chamber Music Competition and was the Runner-up
at the recent Chesapeake International Chamber Music
Competition.”
The Trio is comprised of pianist Milana Bahl, the founding member of
the group and a Moldavian-born American; violinst Dmitry Lukin, and
cellist Dmitry Kouzov, both of St. Petersburg, Russia.

Violinist Dmitry Lukin, pianist Milana Bahl, and cellist
Dmitry Kouzov are three musicians who met on the steps
of The Julliard School and who now form the
award-winning Manhattan Piano Trio. They will perform at
Dalton State College on January 25.

“Each of the musicians is extremely talented,” says Taylor, noting that
pianist Bahl was a winner of the Young Artist Competition as well as
the IBLA International Competition in Italy; Kouzov was a first prize
winner at the International Beethoven Cello Competition in the Czech
Republic and the recipient of the 2006 New York Cello Society’s “Rising
Star” Award; and Lukin was the second prize winner of the 2005
International Violin Competition of Sion-Valais in Switzerland, where
he was also the recipient of the “Audience Choice” Award.
The three musicians met, literally, “on the front steps” of The
Julliard School during the summer of 2004. Since then, they have
performed nationwide, and for the past two seasons, the Manhattan Piano
Trio gave more than 125 concerts in 22 states.
“The program is billed as ‘Music of the Masters’ and will showcase
captivating music of different styles and musical periods,” Taylor says.
