Dalton State College has announced the creation of the Earl
(Buck) Benson Jr. Memorial Scholarship for students enrolled at
the DSC Gilmer County Center.
Buck Benson was an attorney who practiced law in the Atlanta
area and later moved to Gilmer County with his wife Joanne
Benson, who created the scholarship in his memory.
Dalton State will award one scholarship annually, with
preference given to students majoring in a pre-law field such as
English, history, political science, or criminal justice.
The application should include a 500-word essay on a topic to be
determined and two letters of reference. The deadline for
applying for the scholarship for the upcoming academic year is
April 30.
The scholarship recipient will be selected through an
application process, and the scholarship committee will consist
of local attorneys.
