The Office of Alumni Relations at Dalton State College will host
the 40th anniversary reunion of the Dalton Junior Class of 1969
on Saturday, June 6.
The Class of 1969 was the first graduating class in the
institution’s history, says Alumni Relations Coordinator Josh
Wilson, who calls this first reunion “an exciting time in the
life of the College.”
“We are thrilled that so many members of the class of ’69 still
live in and around our community and will be able to attend the
reunion,” Wilson says.
“The Class of 1969 was the first to walk the halls of Sequoya,
the first to cheer on the Roadrunner basketball team in the
Bandy Gym, and the first to graduate. Now, they will be the
first to attend a reunion hosted by the College.”
Among the guests scheduled to attend are Arthur Gignilliat, Jr.,
the son of Dalton Junior College’s first president Arthur
Gignilliat, Sr., and legendary Roadrunner basketball coach
Melvyn Ottinger.
