Dalton State College senior Ana Maldonado was one of seven
students nationwide to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the
Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business,
Management, and Administration recently, and she plans to use
the scholarship to further her education.
Maldonado, who is double majoring in Marketing Systems and in
Accounting, has earned a 3.97 grade point average while at
Dalton State and is an active member of the campus’s chapter of
Sigma Beta Delta.
“I am very honored to have received this award and to represent
Dalton State nationally,” says Maldonado, a native of Mexico
whose family moved to the United States to provide their
children with a better education.
“This scholarship helps me with the cost of my education and
will make it possible for me to spend more time concentrating on
school.”
The Sigma Beta Delta fellowship program awards seven fellowships
to qualifying members for use in their academic studies during a
student’s junior or senior year of college or in their master’s
level study.
“Ana was nominated for this award because she is such a strong
student and she understands the value of a good education,” says
Dr. Marilyn Helms, Sesquicentennial Chair and Professor of
Management who sponsors Dalton State’s chapter of the honor
society. |

“She is making the most of her studies at Dalton State and is a
role model for her peers.”
Dr. Donna Mayo, Dean of the College’s School of Business,
agrees.
“Ana is an excellent student who is involved in campus as a
Student Orientation Ambassador and Recruitment (SOAR) leader and
works as an administrative assistant at Kaleen Rugs,” Mayo
remarks. “She has studied in Paris and is very active in the
Dalton community. We are proud of her accomplishments.” |
