Jason Hall, a Dalton State College graduate who earned a
Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education degree
in May, recently received a $1000 New Teacher Grant
sponsored by Georgia Power.
The New Teacher Grant is given to one student from each
of the 15 colleges and universities in the state of
Georgia that offers a degree in education. Each
institution nominates up to five students for the grant,
and Georgia Power selects one to represent each
institution.
Hall, who teaches second grade at Antioch Elementary
School, was one of five students nominated from Dalton
State for the award.
“Jason is passionate about teaching; he is totally
committed to his students and will provide the support
they need to achieve academic success. He is
well-deserving of this award,” says Dr. Mary Edwards,
Chair of the Division of Education at Dalton State.
Hall, who earned his associate degree and bachelor’s
degree from Dalton State, said he was surprised but very
happy to learn that he had received the grant.
“This grant helps new teachers buy supplies for their
classroom that they might not otherwise be able to have
during their first year,” he says. |
