and friends raise over $4000 for
D.E.O.
clinic! |

Release Date: Nov. 16, 2006
|
Approximately 60 students, staff, and community members gathered on campus recently to sleep in boxes for the
purpose of raising money for the D.E.O. Clinic--a Dalton clinic
that provides medical care for the indigent.
The event was sponsored by the DSC Social Work Club, but
representatives from 11 different student groups
participated, collecting $4206 in donations for the clinic.
In recognition of these efforts, prizes were awarded to
two individual students and to the student group (other
than the Social Work club) that raised the most funds,
with the DSC Honors Program winning a digital camera, and students Robert Angle and Serena
Hitchcox winning free dinners (donated by Dr. Rodriguez, D.E.O. medical
director), facials (donated by Dalton Nails), and massages (donated
by Professional Wellness Therapy). |

In addition, door prizes were provided by Twisted
Sister, Robin's Nest, Chick-fil-a, Dalton Nails, and Professional Wellness
Therapy, and Box One donated the boxes that were used for shelter for the
event.
