The DSC Radiologic Technology Program has two full-time faculty members:

Current: Susan D. West has been the program director for the radiologic technology program at Dalton State College since 1998 and previously (since 1991) at Hamilton Medical Center Radiologic Technology Program prior to the program transferring to the college.

Education History: Susan is originally from Dalton, Georgia and is a graduate of Dalton High School. She is a graduate of the hospital-based radiography program at Hamilton Medical Center (Dalton, GA) and has been a registered technologist in radiography since 1981. Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology from the Medical College of Georgia in 1983 and a Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society graduate from the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Health Occupation Education in 1990.

Accreditation Experience: Susan has over 21 years of program start-up and accreditation process experience through the JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology). She has served as an Accreditation Site-Visitor for JRCERT since 1996.

Work History: Susan has worked at full and part-time jobs performing diagnostic, fluoroscopic, trauma, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Susan has taught radiologic technology education since 1983 in a variety of institutions including: The Medical College of Georgia, University Hospital Augusta, Georgia, Hamilton Medical Center, Dalton, Georgia, and Dalton State College, Dalton, Georgia. She currently has a 100% passing rate on the ARRT certification examination for all program graduates since 1983.

Work Ethic: To facilitate student learning in the field of Radiologic Technology by promoting a goal of radiologic imaging excellence that surpasses mediocrity. Her motto is "Anyone can take an x-ray, but I want our students to know the why and how behind the button-pushing. My wish is that DSC students are the ones the local health care facilities want to hire above the rest of available graduates from the area."
