Beta Chi Nu is an active chapter of the National Biological Honors Society Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta). The chapter was installed in May 2012 by Tri-Beta's National President Dr. Don Roush, at which time 37 charter members were initiated. The purpose of Tri-Beta is to recognize academic excellence; to promote scholarship, research, and dissemination of information in the biological sciences; and to encourage an engaged community amongst members. Students can join Dalton State's Beta Chi Nu chapter at any time; initiation ceremonies are held each spring. Semester events include member meetings, social activities, fundraisers, a research lounge, and biology-related activities. Beta Chi Nu also offers peer-mentoring and tutoring to members and logs members' volunteer hours for use on graduate school applications.
