Q. Are my grades available on-line?
A. All students, including transients, have an account on Banner Web and can access their student records and grades. Just log into your myDaltonState account and click on the Student & Financial Aid menu located on the right hand side of the screen. Then click on Student Records.
If you have a problem, please feel free to call the main line at 706-272-4436 and ask for assistance.
Q. When are grades available on-line?
A. While your instructor may have already posted your grade through Banner Web; your grade may not be available for you to review on-line because it has not yet been processed by the Registrar's Office to your academic record. Typically, all grades are processed to each student's academic record only after all faculty members has entered the grades in Banner Web or, at the latest, by the deadline for grades to be turned in by the faculty. This is when the grades will officially appear on your transcript. In between time though, you may be able to view your grades under the Mid Term Grades or Final Grades links.
The deadline for Spring 2011 grades from instructors is noon, Monday, May 9, 2011.
End of term processing (Standing and GPA calculations) is projected to be complete no later than the close of business on May 10, 2011. Transcripts requiring Spring 2011 grades will be processed after May 10, 2011.
If a transcript is needed earlier, students should contact the Registrar's Office as soon as possible. Securing early grades in situations where a transcript is needed earlier than the end of the term is the responsibility of the student who must make arrangements with the instructor(s) concerned. Instructors will be responsible for insuring the Registrar is notified when "early" grades for the student concerned are available in Banner, or that the grade(s) are conveyed to the Registrar on a signed roll or memorandum.
Q. What about my GPA at the end of the term?
A. After your grades are processed to your electronic academic record at the end of the term, there are still several more processing steps the Registrar must make before your record is complete for the term. Here's how it works. After grades are "rolled" to your academic history, a batch process identifying all students who have repeated courses must be run, audited and the records updated. This process takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Then, another batch process updating every student's Grade Point Average (GPA) must be run. This takes about two hour’s run-time. Overall, the entire end-of-term process takes about 8 hours for the Registrar to complete.
Q. Are grades mailed at the end of the term?
A. No! Effective at the end of the Summer 2002 term, grades were no longer mailed. This practice is typical throughout the University System. All students have access to their grades on-line. Students who need their grades mailed to a third party (parents, employers, etc.) should request a transcript..
