Dalton State College will host a concert by vocalist E G Kight on
Tuesday, February 10, at 7:30 pm in the Goodroe Auditorium in
Memorial Hall.
Kight, who has shared the stage with music legends Phoebe Snow,
Merle Haggard, and Little Feat within the past year, is known for
her ability to perform a wide variety of musical genres, including
jazz, country, southern rock, gospel, funk, and blues.
Sponsored by the College’s Fine Arts and Lecture Series through the
Office of Student Activities, the event is free and open to the
public.
“This is E G Kight’s first appearance on our campus, and from all
accounts, she is a dynamic performer who is known for her passionate
and heartfelt delivery of ballads,” says Jane Taylor, Director of
Public Relations at Dalton State.
“She is also an accomplished song writer. Several of her
compositions have won awards, and her musical compilations called
“Get the Blues!” and “Get the Blues 2” maintained Billboard chart
positions for more than a year.”
Kight, a native of Dublin, Georgia, was born into a musical family,
says Taylor, noting that by age 15 she was performing country music
at civic events and festivals, and by age 16, she had written her
first song. In the 1980s, she frequently performed with such country
artists as George Jones and Jerry Lee Lewis and was a regular
performer on TNN’s Nashville Now. |

In recent years, Kight has leaned more toward the blues genre, which
has become the backbone of her musical interests. Recent CD
recordings include Takin’ It Easy, the most recent of her Blue South
Record releases. Other CDs include Southern Comfort, Trouble, and
Come Into the Blues.”
