Dalton State News Releases
Week of Welcome
The Office of Student Activities, the DSC Foundation, and the Office of Residential Life have come up with some pretty cool ways to beat the summer heat during the Week of Welcome, August 17-21.

On Monday, August 17, students will have access to “inflatables” and will be able to climb a rock wall, play water tag, or chart their way through Wild One Obstacle Course.  Sno Cones will be served to beat back the heat. All events will take place on the Quad from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
From 9:00 am until noon on Tuesday, August 18, Student Activities will sponsor the Third Annual Day for Dalton, where vendors in the community give away brochures, coupons, promotional items, and other incentives in hopes that Dalton State College students visit their businesses in the near future. And from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm that afternoon, President John Schwenn along with Vice Presidents John Hutcheson, Jodi Johnson, and Scott Bailey will be in the bottom level of the Pope Student Center serving ice cream and toppings during the annual Week of Welcome Ice Cream Social.

On Wednesday, August 19, activities include the Student Employment Fair in the upper level of the Pope Student Center from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon followed by a performance by Comedian Pete Lee from 12:15 until 1:15 in the same venue. The DSC Foundation will be celebrating Watermelon Wednesday on the Quad from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm, complete with watermelon spitting contests, a watermelon race, and a watermelon eating contest.

On Thursday, August 20, the annual Back to School BBQ and the Registered Student Organization Fair will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and again from 5:00 to 6:30 pm outside and inside of the lower level of the Pope Student Center. Musician Natalie Stovall will perform an hour-long concert on the College’s new bell tower beginning at 12:15.

Those who are interested in seeing the new apartments, Wood Valley at DSC, are invited to stop by Apartment C14 on Friday, August 21, during the Wood Valley Open House from 2:00 until 5:00 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.
