The Borealis Wind Quintet will appear in concert in the Goodroe Auditorium of
Memorial Hall on Tuesday, September 16, at 7:30 pm.
The concert, sponsored by Dalton State’s Fine Arts and Lecture Series, is free
and open to the public and will feature a program of musical selections to be
played on the oboe, clarinet, flute, French horn, and bassoon.
The New York City based quintet will perform selections ranging from “Wind
Quintet in G minor” by Taffanel to “Ancient Hungarian Dances” by Ferenc Farcus
to “Potpourri Fantastico” by Giulio Briccialdi, among others.
In 2006, the Borealis Wind Quintet was nominated for a Grammy Award in the
category for Best Chamber Music Performance. Each member of the group has
performed extensively with major orchestras in the northeast in addition to
being part of this group.
Members of the quintet include: flutist Katherine Fink; Tamar Beach Wells on the
oboe; Kathryn Taylor, clarinetist; Dan Culpepper on the French Horn; and Wayne
Hileman, who plays the bassoon.

chamber music series and national radio broadcasts, Taylor says, and
consistently receives rave reviews not only for its stunning programs and
performances but also for the engaging warmth of the members’ personalities.
Although no reservations are required, seating is limited, so those interested
