Biography

I was born and raised in Philadelphia. After getting my Ph.D. (the title of which is a 19-word monstrosity that no one in my family understands, but it impresses them nonetheless), I did post-doctoral research at Duke and Stanford Universities. After that, I spend several years as a Biology faculty in Milwaukee before starting at Dalton State College in Fall 2012. My research had been in the area of cellular and molecular neuroscience. Specifically, my work focused on trying to understand the cellular changes that are occurring that could explain larger scale phenomena such as learning and memory. I took the position at Dalton State because I wanted to have more student interactions. My teaching interests here are general, cellular, molecular, and physiological biology. And while I don't have the laboratory resources that I've had at other institutions, I'm happy to do what I can to promote student research interests. In particular, much of earlier research involved the use of fluorescence microscopy. Recently Dalton State has acquired a fluorescent microscope and I'd be particularly interested in helping students incorporate it in their research. If anyone wants to talk with me about anything, please feel free to stop by (or phone, or e-mail).
