Biography
Travis McKie-Voerste is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor. In addition to his passion for educating students about the application of principles of psychology, he continues to work in private practice and brings this experience to the classroom. Dr. McKie-Voerste also provides supervision for counselors pursuing licensure and is passionate about training the next generation of professional counselors. He has worked in mental health since 2009 and served as the head of the Dalton State College Counseling center prior to accepting a teaching position at Dalton State.
Dr. McKie-Voerste's research interests include college mental health, counselor-client relationship factors, counselor education and gatekeeping. His dissertation focused on investigating the experiences of atheists receiving counseling in the Bible Belt of the United States and he continues research on the role of religion in the counseling field.
