Dalton State College seeks a Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs who will prioritize and foster a culture of care for students, faculty, and staff while upholding a commitment to academic rigor.

The successful candidate will demonstrate active, visible engagement on campus and in the community as a partner with industry, professional, and civic leaders. In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate in the implementation of Vision 2050, Dalton State’s emerging strategic plan. The plan’s key objectives include establishing a college-operated K-12 laboratory school, expanding degree programs in high-demand fields like education and nursing, and expanding work in the arts.

Key qualifications and expectations include:
  • Relevant doctoral or terminal degree from an accredited institution.
  • More than five years of progressive leadership experience, preferably at the dean or provost level.
  • Willingness to reside in the Dalton State College community and service area.
  • Experience working at a state or community college preferred.
  • Experience with the University System of Georgia preferred.
  • Experience working in a Hispanic-Serving Institution preferred.
  • Experience in faculty management, curriculum development, and strategic planning.
  • Solid leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, assessment, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
  • Ability to exchange information, resolve problems, motivate and/or influence individuals and parties, and justify, defend or settle matters.
