Dalton State Foundation Receives Endowment Gift from American Legion Post 112

05/12/16

The Dalton State Foundation received a gift in support of the Foundation’s endowment from the local American Legion Post 112.

“We began talking with American Legion representatives earlier this year about their potential interest in providing financial assistance for students at Dalton State,” said David Elrod, director of the Foundation. “The interest on the part of the members of American Legion Post 112 was very high, and the need for financial support for hard-working and deserving students is constant. It was only natural that we would work together to help both organizations achieve a common goal.”

The gift will endow a scholarship in support of veterans and veterans’ dependents who are attending Dalton State.

“The American Legion’s mission of service in its local communities is demonstrated through their members’ actions in Dalton and Whitfield County, and their philanthropy with this gift is another manifestation of the many good things the American Legion does for all of us,” Elrod said. “Dalton State is proud of the American Legion Post 112’s philanthropic leadership with this gift, and we look forward to being able to provide financial support for veterans and veterans’ dependents attending Dalton State for many years to come.”
