Dalton State Receives Gift from Dalton Civitan Club

04/05/17

The Dalton Civitan Club made a gift to the Dalton State Foundation in support of student scholarships recently.

“Our relationship with the Dalton Civitan Club is one of our oldest, reaching back to the College’s first year in 1967,” said Foundation Director David Elrod.

“Members of Civitan show their interest year after year in the success of Dalton State students through gifts like this and through their invitations to our students to make presentations at Civitan Club meetings. We are honored that Civitan chose to continue its investment in our students this year,” said Dalton State President Dr. Margaret Venable.

The gift is made in support of students majoring in the College’s School of Science, Technology and Mathematics.

“While two-thirds of our students seek need-based financial aid in order to attend classes, 100 percent of our donors believe in the power of philanthropy to transform lives, and Civitan’s partnership with us in providing access to higher education opportunities is a point of pride for both the Club and the College,” Elrod said. “In this, the College’s 50th anniversary year, we are honored by Civitan’s half-century of interest and investment in Dalton State, and we are thrilled that they have once again stepped up in support of student scholarships at Dalton State.”
